The Arab Intercultural youth Choir-ensemble
The Arab Intercultural Youth Choir Ensemble is an initiative founded by Neam Tarek in 2017 in Leipzig, following the major migration waves of 2015. Many newly arrived young people faced challenges in finding a supportive community where they could empower each other and celebrate their identities. Singing and practicing their diverse musical traditions became a way to connect, express themselves, and share their cultures with the broader community. The choir also served as an escape from the isolation of the language-learning process.Beyond fostering connection, the project actively challenges stereotypes about Arabic music by showcasing the vast diversity of musical traditions within Arabic-speaking communities. The choir welcomes amateur musicians and beginners who want to explore and train their voices while engaging in cultural and social activities. The Choir is open to collaboration with youth and amateur orchestras, theater productions, and transcultural events and festivals.
