"My expanded harp practice embraces a wide range of performances, from classic harp concerts featuring diverse programs suited for both commercial and non-commercial events—whether solo, chamber, or orchestral—to contemporary and experimental collaborations. I work with composers, text artists, dancers, and multimedia creators to explore new artistic possibilities, pushing the boundaries of modern harp performance."
"My multimedia performance practice is a space for artistic exploration and research beyond traditional formats. I seek alternative concepts that challenge patriarchal and colonial art structures, working to deconstruct the Eurocentric gaze in art. My work is particularly focused on reimagining opera and performance, reconstructing them through new perspectives and methodologies. I welcome collaborations with production houses, galleries, collectives, scientists, and artists from all disciplines to engage in critical artistic dialogue and transformative practices."
"Art and culture are not just entertainment—they are simulations of societies, histories, the human mind, wars, climates, and change". Neam Tarek is intensely engaged in cultural-and Sociopolitical discourses within Germany and its history, as well as more broadly across European and Western contexts. Her work calls for urgent structural change by addressing racism, raising awareness of cultural appropriation and diversity, and critically reflecting on Western cultural heritage in literature, music, theater, and beyond. Through projects and spaces, she highlights and challenges the reproduction of stereotypes, othering, and cultural exclusion—while demanding a deeper reckoning with colonialism, actively deconstructing Orientalist narratives, and centering non-European perspectives.
Founded in 2017 by Neam Tarek in Leipzig, the Arab Intercultural Youth Choir empowers newly migrated youth through music, community, and cultural exchange while challenging stereotypes about Arabic music.
